PFC William Love Clifton’s father H.W. Clifton was a WWI veteran. He received a purple heart for being wounded by the enemy. He lived, and was able to raise his family in Hood, and Somerville County. PFC William L. Clifton, was wounded in action on the 31st of Jan. 1945. Unlike his father, He would not make it home. Nine days later on the 9th of Feb. PFC. Clifton, died from his wounds, leaving behind, his wife and 2 year old son. We do not know a lot about him, other than he was born near Hill City, and grew up in Hood, and Somerville County.
