Colonel William Leslie Brooks' went Missing In Action 22, April 1970, when his AC130A Spectre gunship was shot down in Vietnam. His remains were recovered on November 15, 1993 and identified on September 1, 1995. He, along with his crew, SSgt. Thomas Y. Adachi, the aerial gunner; LtCol. Charlie B. Davis, a navigator; Maj. Donald G. Fisher, a navigator; SSgt. Stephen W. Harris; SSgt. Ronnie L. Hensley; Master Sgt. Robert N. Ireland; Airman Donald M. Lint; LtCol. Charles S. Rowley; and 1Lt. John C. Towle. Were buried in a group grave at Arlington National Cemetery in 1995. The only survivors of his crew, were Major Donald Fisher, and SSGT Eugene L. Fields. Colonel Brooks' name is located on Panel 11W, Line 34 of the Vietnam Memorial.
