(Dub) Roberts, 23, was killed when he fell from a truck at Banksdale Field, during a training exercise near Shreveport, Caddo Parish, Louisiana, Herbert was well known in Hood County, having been born here. He was in camp at the time of the accident. PVT Herbert E Roberts was one of the first from Hood County to be drafted into the U.S. Army for WWII
