Pvt. Delano W. Cooper, was killed in action around Gatha, Germany, not far from Kassel. The after action report begins, “The morning of 5 April 1945 was murky, hazy, and damp” The report is not lengthy, nor detailed. It only mentions elements of the 319th attacking an area around Gutwindhausen. Somewhere in that area, Pvt. Delano Cooper, who was born and raised in Fall Creek, was killed in the line of duty. He lost his life, at age 19, fighting for our freedom.
